It is proposed that Contract W912HQ19P0005, be modified to exercise option clause FAR 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services, for a period of three months in order to avoid a lapse in service until the issuance of a new contract for USACE HECSA. The price of an additional 3 months is about $25K, consistent with current year pricing. An approved Single Source Determination is required for contracts/orders which did not establish extension prices at the time of award, in order to satisfy FAR Part 6 requirements. Only the incumbent can provide these services without undue increase in cost and without interruption of essential services.This action is required to ensure there is no break in the existing services provided at HECSA. Due to a delay in receipt of required documents and funding necessary to re-compete this requirement, it is in the Government’s best interest to extend the existing contract utilizing FAR 52.217-8.
