Description:
An Amendment is issued to this RFI to remove the sentence “Responses from all capable and qualified sources from within the US are sought.” Removing the sentence is to make it clear that international sources can also respond with information. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Foundational Science Underlying Digital Superconducting Logic; W911NF-21-RFI-FSDL The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Research Triangle Park Division. is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) in support of the U.S. Army Research Office (ARO) and the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), is seeking information on the foundational science underlying performance characteristics of digital logic using superconducting circuitry (FSDL). To date, many attempts at producing large-scale digital superconducting logic circuits have been stifled due to challenges as circuit sizes are scaled up. This RFI is soliciting the community for input on unresolved research questions on the fundamentals of superconducting circuit behavior, with a particular emphasis on emergent behavior as circuit size increases. Input is requested on currently known, put poorly controlled foundational issues, methods for uncovering unknown issues, comparisons of different families of superconducting logic approaches; and possible research directions which may enable future reproducible, larger-scale digital circuitry. Furthermore, this RFI also seeks to gather information on possible revolutionary/novel research directions within the superconducting logic paradigm aimed at side-stepping identified issues. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS ONLY. This Request for Information (RFI) is for planning and informational purposes only and shall not be considered as a request for proposals or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses to this RFI or the Government's use of such information. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any contractor's input resulting from this RFI. No contract will be awarded from this announcement. Data submitted in response to this RFI will not be returned. Information is being requested to inform future requirements for the superconducting digital logic research community and the Government. PLEASE READ FULL ATTACHMENT PROVIDED TITLED; REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Foundational Science Underlying Digital Superconducting Logic; W911NF-21-RFI-FSDL Responses to this RFI are due no later than 4:00 pm Eastern Time on 2 November 2021. All submissions must be electronically submitted to usarmy.rtp.devcom-arl.mesg.qcbox@army.mil as a PDF document. Inquiries to this RFI must be submitted to usarmy.rtp.devcom-arl.mesg.qcbox@army.mil Do not send questions with proprietary content. No telephone inquiries will be accepted.
