Description:
Diamond films with substitutional nitrogen adjacent to vacancies create a robust solid-state quantum material system to interrogate various measurements of interest including magnetic fields and temperature often beyond the levels currently achieved by classical systems. One of the limiting factors for the research community is procuring and producing high quality diamond films. The properties and performance of the films are necessarily constrained by the quality of the substrates used to seed growth. This prospective effort seeks to bridge that gap by investing in materials research for substrate production that would ultimately provide researchers with a source of high quality substrate material produced by a reliable, domestic vendor.
