HISTORIC BRICK MASONRY FIREPLACE REPAIRS CANE RIVER CREOLE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK (CARI) Oakland Plantation, Main House and Overseer's House, Route 494 Bermuda, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana National Register of Historic Places This acquisition is solicited for competitive quotations under FAR Part 13 SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES. The National Park Service anticipates an award of a single Firm-Fixed Price contract. Price and Past Performance (recent and relevant) will be considered when making a "best value" source selection. The historic Oakland Main House fireplace need masonry repair and re plastering. The structural bricks are soft due to high levels of moisture and the top plaster coat was removed to assess the condition. Without the plaster, the masonry is falling onto the ground and creating dust that attaches to nearby exhibits. The historic Overseer fireplace needs tuck-pointing in key spots to stabilize the load bearing corners. Bricks need to be installed where others have cracked or fallen out. The exterior bricks and mortar on the mantel return need tuck pointing to stabilize the structure. The interior of the firebox will be treated with tuck-pointing and and select brick replacement. MAGNITUDE: Contractor shall use Park furnished replacement bricks to fill voids or replace brick damaged during raking. Brick shall be cut to surrounding brick dimensions to keep wall surface flush; - approximately 200 square feet of brick foundation Under Room 101 and Room 104; - approximately 200 square feet of brick fireplace in Room 101 and Room 104; - approximately 200 square feet of brick fireplace in Room 202 and Room 210; - 30 square feet of failing plaster on adjacent interior wall need repair, prime and paint in Room 210.
